Tracklist
1 Your Smile Was All I Needed 2 Chrome Lover 3 Gary's Theme 4 I Want To Take You On A Sea CruiseReviews
The best thing Gary Wilson ever did.
No, really.
These four tracks give you an idea of the sheer scope of what Gary was doing in the 70s and 80s. Sure, You Think You Really Know Me is much better known and respected, but it's a one note album. This covers some SERIOUS ground over its four tracks.
"Another Time, I Could Have Loved You" is a brief instrumental free improv-ish thing with some FANTASTIC guitar noise/feedback.
"Chrome Lover" starts off as a smooth jazz-funk song, and then gets progressively more and more experimental and amelodic until the last thirty seconds are just absolute chaos.
"New York Surf" sounds like a Moog-drenched children's television theme song from the early 70s.
And "I Want to Take You on a Sea Cruise" has the same smooth jazz funk gone horribly strange and free sound as "Chrome Lover" but ends on the main theme rather than descending into absolute chaos. Also a good chance to hear Wilson's free jazz piano background (which is all over Another Galaxy).
Worth finding. REALLY worth finding.
