Description

"Johnson Boy" b/w "Goodbye My Honey I'm Gone" by the Tenneva Ramblers, aka Grant Brothers and Their Music. The Ramblers had a last-minute dispute with their lead vocalist Jimmie Rodgers on the eve of their debut with Victor Records in Bristol in 1927. By 1928, the Ramblers were recording on their own and made a handful of stellar hillbilly string band 78s. This one was recorded October 5, 1928, one of two issued on Columbia. Condition is a strong V. Moderate graying of grooves but eminently listenable. A few moments of minor peak distortion on the "Goodbye" side. A very decent copy.
