Description
Ghibli Reggae Plus continues GBL Sound System’s celebrated concept of reimagining Studio Ghibli’s iconic soundtracks through the lens of reggae. Released in 2022, this album expands the scope of the series by incorporating a broader range of films and moods, further cementing the project as a standout example of cross-cultural reinterpretation. It holds particular importance for its ability to respectfully transform beloved Japanese cinematic themes into a universal, rhythm-driven musical language without losing their emotional core.
🎵 Album Highlights
Pressed on vinyl and presented in stereo, Ghibli Reggae Plus delivers warm basslines, relaxed skanks, and gentle dub textures that complement the familiar melodies. The album flows like a continuous soundtrack, making it ideal for full-side listening. Tracks such as Always With Me and The Princess Mononoke balance serenity with groove, while deeper cuts like Therru’s Song add a more introspective tone.
