Description

This is an original late 1950s MONAURAL DEEP GROOVE YELLOW LABEL U.S. pressing of the 1957 Prestige Records LP titled 'Funky - Hi-Fi Jam Session' from tenor sax man Gene Ammons and his All Stars, featuring alto sax man Jackie McLean. It is Prestige Records catalog number 7083, Bergenfield NJ labels, and is a heavy vinyl deep groove pressing. Personnel: Gene Ammons-tenor sax / Jackie McLean-also sax / Art Farmer-trumpet / Kenny Burrell-guitar / Mal Waldron-piano / Doug Watkins-bass / Arthur Taylor-drums. Tracks: Pint Size, King Size, Funky, Stella by Starlight. Condition of record is conservatively a low to mid VG+ with some light surface marks and one surface mark which appears more prominent, none of which can be felt and none of which affect play - Record plays through nicely with a minimal amount of very light background surface noise. Labels have no real problems. Condition of cover is conservatively a low to mid VG+ with a little brown mildew discoloration along the bottom of the left edge of the front cover as can be seen in the accompanying image, a little general contact wear, and some general wear along the edges and on the corners. Cover has no splits, writing, tears or stickers. A nice addition to any modern jazz record collection!
