Description
Presenting a rare piece of swing music history as captured on a 78 rpm transcription from 1939 featuring drummer Gene Krupa. This twelve inch record was pressed by RCA Victor to promote the release of "Some Like it Hot", a Paramount picture starring Bob Hope. This disc was created for radio or theater broadcast only and was not a commercial release. Do not confuse this film with the Marilyn Monroe 1959 film of the same name. This movie was essentially a vehicle to showcase swing jazz with Krupa's hot drum solos.
On this disc, Gene plays Wire Brush Stomp as a solo on part one and then his swing band is added on side two. The fidelity is awesome and the record surfaces are in E+ condition. The performance is preceded on both sides by a studio announcer praising Krupa's contribution to hot swing and this movie, his first picture for Paramount.
