Picked this one up recently in a lot of other mixed LPs. This is a super rare, ONE-SIDED, 8 track Capitol promotional sampler LP. THREE Gene Vincent tracks from his “Bluejean Bop” album, THREE tracks from Gordon MacRae, and TWO from Frank DeVol, from then, current, 1956 Capitol album releases.
I’ve scoured the web and can only find ONE reference to this exceptionally unusual sampler! That one didn’t come with a cover like this one does. Label states “Salesman’s Demonstration Record for August, 13, 1956, album releases”! Capitol release number is PRO-283, and runout groove etching/matrix confirms it. B-side has a blank, white label and a (appx) 50 second long, single track of dead air.
Vinyl condition looks much cleaner than it plays. Plays through VG+ with some surface noise and a few pops & clicks. Jacket is also VG+ overall. Edge & corner wear, rubs/dings/stains on cover/reverse, 2” seam split at top (bottom and side are fine!). Comes with original Capitol inner sleeve. See photos for finer details.
