Genesis : Calling All Stations A-01 / B-01 / C-02 2LP 1st Press 1997
This first pressing from 1997 is practically 'shop fresh'. It's crazy to think even this release is nearly 30 years old now and it is without doubt a FINAL UPGRADE version. In essence it could hardly play any better - the clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is symptomatic of an album that has clearly hardly ever been played, there is no spindle wear on the labels to back up that theory. It's part of an immaculate Genesis collection I purchased recently and this one has been preserved so well. The only background are two minor ticks on 'Not About Us' but there is no underlying static, no clicks or pops and sonically it is stunning across all three sides. S4 has an etched picture of the band of course.
The album may not have been well received at the time, it's not typical Genesis of course, but there are some very strong tracks here nonetheless. It's the second one I have sold in four months and on second listen I did enjoy it a lot more, it's much better than I first remembered!
The glossy gatefold is STUNNING and has been so well looked after. Near Mint is almost an understatement! It has retained its original shape and structure perfectly and has no obvious wear at all. The glossy lyric inners are in immaculate condition also. A stunning album all round, the complete package you could say.

Visual description
The vinyls are in lovely condition and still have a superb glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. Under a bright light I can only see a small number of ultra faint hairlines and there is nothing that stands out. The labels have no marking or spindle wear.
Play Grading
'Calling All Stations' plays with stunning precision throughout. It's not exactly typical Genesis but it's still a strong track and sonically it is incredible! The clarity, depth, power and warmth of the audio is impeccable and Mint is 100% deserved.
The next track 'Congo' is of the same high end standard with no intrusion at all. No statics, ticks, clicks or pops just pure Mint audio from start to finish.
'Shipwrecked' is a great track and again it plays with exceptional clarity and definition. It is Mint all the way it just could not play any better.
The quiet intro on 'Alien Afternoon' plays with perfect clarity and it progresses in the same way. Wilson's first vocal is flawless and it continues in the same precise way. Every vocal and instrumental section is so clean and succinct. Mint

'Not About Us' is as close to perfect as is possible. There are a couple of minor static ticks on the opening vocal but aside from that it plays beautifully with only minimal static at the end of the fade out. Easily one of the best tracks on the album it is well worth a Near Mint+ grade i.e. slightly better than Near Mint!
'If That's What You Need' is 'as new' from the first note to the last. Mint
'The Dividing Line' is a superb track and instrumentally is more like the Genesis of old The clarity, depth and power of the audio is phenomenal and grades as MINT and then some! A STUNNING version.
The quiet intro on 'Uncertain Weather' plays with sublime clarity and the opening vocal section is just as impressive. It continues to play with real quality and again there is no intrusion on the audio. It's another strong track and again Mint is an honest appraisal of the audio and that includes the fade out.

'Small Talk' plays with stunning clarity through every section. Again the sonic quality cannot be faulted and even the relatively long quiet fade out has no background. Mint
The intro on 'There Must Be Some Other Way' is perfect and this standard is maintained throughout. A kind of Genesis mid instrumental thrown in for good measure and it plays 'as new'. The rest of track plays without fault and Mint is deserved.
'One Man's Fool' ends the album with superb audio. Once again the clarity and depth of the audio is first class and there is nothing to detract from the playback. The closing sequence is powerful and yet there is no inner groove distortion. This is easily a Mint conclusion.
The Gatefold & Lyric Inners
The glossy cover is in fantastic condition and is almost 'as new'. The top edges have only a couple of tiny 'rubs' and the bottom edges are perfect as is the wide spine. The corners are extremely clean with only minimal rubbing next to the bottom of the spine. The opening edges are pristine with no handling wear and the front cover is stunning with just that one minor rub bottom left and one tiny edge crease next to the spine. The back cover and the inside of the gatefold are immaculate - this truly is a stunning example of this cover and rarely found like this today.
The two lyric inners are pristine. It's obvious they have hardly ever been removed from the cover.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
