Description

GENESIS - From Genesis To Revelation (Super Rare Original 1969 UK Mono) vinyl LP with unboxed Decca red label.

LK4990

Almost a mythical rarity, with copies hardly ever surfacing on the market. The condition of the laminated sleeve is VG+ with just a few creases and laminate lift. The vinyl looks glossy and clean and under bright light reveals numerous wispy superficial sleeve removal lines and light scuffs.

What makes this copy more special is that it was part of the private collection of Stig Anderson - the legendary Abba manager with Genesis connections. It was part of the sale of Stig's collection following his death in 1997. The large collection was dispersed to private collectors.

Each label has a light stamp declaring it as the property of Stig Anderson music production in Swedish.

From Genesis to Revelation was the first album by Genesis released in March 1969 on Decca Records in England.

The LP originally featured the original line up of Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Anthony Phillips. . After replacing Chris Stewart with John Silver on drums, Genesis' producer had them compose an album's worth of songs loosely based on the Bible.

This slightly pretentious venture was cut in August 1968 - while the boys were on school holidays - and later overdubbed with strings, much to the band's chagrin. This concept album with no gaps in between the tracks is a statement of their sound at that time, which changed radically in later years.

From Genesis To Revelation was issued in a black sleeve with its title scribed in gothic gold on the top left hand side. With little else to go by, the record shops stacked the LP in the religious sections and it was consequently impossible to find. Its initial sales tally was just a ew hundred.

CONDITION

As previously stated the condition of the laminated sleeve is VG+ with just a few laminate lifts, light ringwear and creasing. The vinyl retains its glossy shine and is in VG+ condition with light wispy lines, sleeve removal lines and scuffs.

The original lyric inner is near mint as is the original inner bag, which is free from any marks and has only a couple of light creases.
