The Charisma Pink Scroll Label was the first label design used on LPs released by Charisma Records. In the UK, they were used from Charisma's inception in 1969 until mid-1972, with the release of Lindisfarne's Dingly Dell LP (CAS 1057). This was replaced by the large mad hatter label, designed by Paul Whitehead of Genesis sleeve design fame.

 In the United States, the pink scroll labels were used in late 1973 and early 1974 on releases distributed by Buddah Records. Releases distributed by Atlantic Records used the small mad hatter label. Because Charisma had many bands who were relative unknowns when they were signed, many original pressings of early UK issues of albums from Charisma bands like Genesis, Audience and Van der Graaf Generator with pink scroll labels have become quite rare and sought after by collectors.

Please also note that the first pressings of these albums were also on a far superior quality of vinyl. Distributed by B&C Records, the heavy, thick vinyl pressings have only ever been shoddily re-issued when Phonogram took over Charisma at the beginning of 1976 (with the release of Genesis' A Trick of the Tail LP)!!!!. 

Nursery Cryme is the third studio album by Genesis and was recorded and released in 1971. It is also the first album to feature the lineup of Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Phil Collins, and Steve Hackett, the latter two replacing John Mayhew and Anthony Phillips on drums and guitar, respectively in 1970 following the release of Trespass. This lineup would remain consistent until Gabriel's departure in 1975!!.

Although the folky feel was still retained on songs such as "Harlequin" and "For Absent Friends", other tracks displayed a more aggressive and strident sound. Hackett's lead guitar playing contributed a lot to this, with strong solos contained within "The Musical Box", "The Return of the Giant Hogweed" and "The Fountain Of Salmacis".

Although not a success upon release in their homeland, Nursery Cryme became an unexpected hit in Italy, reaching number 4 in the LP charts  - spurring on Genesis' European success - with the album eventually reaching #39 in the UK in 1974!!

It doesn't get much better than this!!! Awesome condition and possibly the best I have ever come across in 35 years!!! Believe me I have seen quite a few although less and less lately.

This is Prog GOLD!!!

The absolute rarity of this album is not to be underestimated. It hardly ever surfaces nowadays.  This has a lovely deep glossy sheen!! Hauntingly beautiful songcraft!!! Immense quality prog album that ticks all the right boxes and incredibly hard to find. I have twentyfive years experience in grading. It doesn't get much better than this!!

BACK IN 1971 WHEN THIS LP WAS FIRST RELEASED, IT ONLY EVER SOLD IN ABSOLUTELY TINY AMOUNTS - AND WAS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY DELETED!!!!  AS A RESULT IT IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND INCREDIBLY HARD TO LOCATE TODAY!!!!

!!!!A VERY HARD FIND!!! Most have been bought up by collectors!! This is hardly offered these days!!

Vinyl: VG++ to EX .  A sensational find!!! I have played this in FULL twice over> The replay is ASTOUNDING!!! I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more detailed observation. Only a few wispy hairlines can be seen under a strong lightsource. Fantastic songcraft! Just listen to "The Return of the Giant Hogweed" and be blown away!!!  For me this is essential prog like Gentle Giant and early Yes. I am very glad to be able to report that this is a fine slab of vinyl without any problems at all and as such worthy of inclusion of any great prog collection. Of course NO jumps/clicks/skips etc.

Gatefold Sleeve: EX++. 

 An amazing copy at last!!! NOT ANY CREASE AND NO WEAR!!! TEXTURED ORIGINAL!!This early copy is made all the more rare by two other major factors: the cover, like the record is highly intolerant of heavy handling and poor storage and is very rarely found with little wear, and most have deep ringwear and rubbing and look a real mess. Being the fully original textured sleeve it is prone for wear. This one is in fantastic condition and is a genuine original with the B&C publishing credits and ‘patents pending’ text (please see close up). This is in superb UNTOUCHED condition and is highly elusive indeed and will prove near impossible to find better. Such a clean overall copy is rare and will not come again soon, make no mistake!!! Only light wear on the top and bottom edge bar this sleeve from being NM. You won't be disappointed! OF COURSE NO WRITING, NO TEARS ETC.
