GENESIS EXTREMELY RARE SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND LP MISPELLED NAME (GENSIS)

if you check Collectorsfrenzy, someone sold a copy of this that's almost identical & does a good job explaining how the Charisma label got a Buddah Records number in an Atlantic distributed jacket w/a mis-spelled band name (GENSIS).

it's a pretty convoluted story & that person tells it pretty well, so I'll skip going into it here. Anyway, my copy is identical to theirs in mis-spelled band name & Buddah catalogue # SW-91568.

where mine differs is that at the bottom of their label, there is a Buddah Records icon.  at the bottom of mine says "Mfg by the Longines Symphonette Society" instead of the Buddah Icon.  (see label scans)

my best guess is that there were basically blank labels around at the printers which had the Longines info at the bottom & somebody wanted to get the Buddah out of the picture & back then nobody paid attention to serial #s or label info like they do now.  I can't picture the record actually being mfg'd by Longines which basically does muzak & the occasional Elvis or c & w box set, but I really don't know, just guessing.

am also guessing that this is the rarest (not necessarily 1st) of the Charisma/Buddah/Atco/(add Longines) mis-spelled pressings which are extremely rare in any case which documents the pretty sloppy transition from Charisma to Atco.

but anyway, the buyer is getting the very very 1st pressing of this Genesis (or GENSIS) LP

Also:  pretty nice, condition-wise:  jacket still in original shrink wrap, side 1 EX++, side 2 has some scuffing that might clean up, but vinyl has full lustre
