This highly collectable album has 'The Famous Charisma Pink Scroll Label' and the audio is of an immaculate standard and plays practically as Mint, the clarity throughout is stunning.  It has only one stamper on each side denoting it as one of the earliest first pressings.  It comes complete with the original fully textured gatefold and a pristine lyric sheet.

Visual grading

This vinyl is visually stunning and looks 'as new' which goes a long way to explaining the immaculate audio quality.  There are no obvious hairlines and certainly no scratches.  Both sides have a jet black mirror like surface with a superb glossy like sheen.  There is barely any spindle wear and never have I seen this rare first pressing looking as pristine as this one.  A stunning final upgrade 'pink scroll' press for certain.

Play grading

With no lead in static on S1 the intro on 'Looking For Someone' has no 'background' and plays with stunning clarity.  The many quiet sections play with a quality that is second to none and never have I heard a pink scroll pressing as good as this.  There is also no distortion on the louder passages and the end section is incredible.  The clarity and depth of the sound on this opening track is of a superb standard and qualifies as Near Mint in my opinion.  There is complete silence in the dead wax between tracks and then the quiet intro on 'White Mountain' is again sublime with no 'background'.  The remainder plays with near perfect audio with only one very faint 'tick'.  I just cannot put into words just how clear the audio is here and I have to keep reminding myself this is a rare pink scroll pressing!  There are a handful of mega light dust ticks prior to the 'humming' end section but your ears have to be very close to the speakers in order to hear them!  This section then plays with to a superb standard with no interference whatsoever.  Wow!  'Visions Of Angels' then matches this standard and again displays audio of an immaculate standard.  A couple of very light dust ticks on the intro but again there are no clicks, pops, static or crackle on this track.  The clarity and power is incredible and again the quiet sections have no interference and whilst I have graded this side as Near Mint the majority (practically all!) plays as Mint it is that good. 

'Stagnation' on S2 has barely any static on the intro and has sound quality of the highest standard.  The odd mega light dust tick but again I cannot believe how 'clean' this track plays.  The quiet sections are nigh on perfect and as an an example the two very quiet flute interludes play with stunning precision and only a couple of light dust ticks.  This does not qualify as interference in my opinion and you will find this on new vinyl let alone one pressed nearly 50 years ago!  The intro on 'Dusk' has sublime audio once more and the entire track continues to play in the same fashion.  It is worth reiterating that there are no clicks, pops, crackle etc this is quite simply audio of the highest order.  'The Knife' performs as per the rest of the album.  Again there is no distortion and the power and clarity is fantastic, no other way to describe it.  As the quiet mid section starts there is a minimal amount of very light static for the first few seconds but it is not intrusive and I only mention it to be complete in my grading.  It is not crackle!  And is so much in the background as to be totally negligible.  The remainder of this long quiet interlude plays in supreme style with no interference and plays as Mint once more.  From that point on the audio is 'as new' the quality is immaculate.  No distortion, no 'background' just pure unadulterated Mint audio.  What a stunning finale to this rare pressing.

In summary this is a final upgrade, archive copy without question.  I am confident in grading this album as Mint- as the clarity of the music is of a superlative standard and as my feedback confirms I grade honestly and with integrity.  I have just never heard a Charisma Pink Scroll pressing play so cleanly, with no intrusive interference and with such dynamic power and range.  The fact that there are no intrusive clicks, pops etc is a mega rarity for such a rare pressing. This album has the wow factor without doubt!

The Gatefold

The original fully textured E.J Day gatefold is in excellent condition with only minor shelf wear.  The edges have some light rubbing and there is a little corner wear also.  The wide spine is very clean with only light wear at the top including one very small split on the corner and a smaller amount of wear on the bottom corner.  The opening edge is in superb shape with no handling wear.  The front cover is extremely clean and has no marking and the same can be said for the back cover.  The inside of the gatefold has some light 'spotting' along the top edge, a little rippling of the surface in a couple of places and a crease near the inner spine.  However, this 'shelf wear' is not major and the gatefold remains very clean for its age.  Overall it has been very carefully looked after down the decades and is certainly one of the cleaner ones you will find.

They both have hardly any spindle wear and have no writing on them.  Whilst they retain a strong and vibrant pink colour they do have some light spotting/wave type lines that can only be seen when tilted at an angle. 

Lyric Inner

This lyric sheet is in perfect condition with no marking or creasing and is the example I have ever seen.

Inner sleeve

The original poly-lined inner sleeve has no splits but does have plenty of creasing, some age related marking around the edges and a very minor amount of wear on one corner. 

Play tested on my Pro-Ject Essential III Turntable / B&W 684 Speakers
