Description

7″/45rpm

GENESIS: Watcher Of The Skies Rare release with unique picture sleeve from Italy. Nice copy in reasonably good shape; record has minimal wear in the form of faint wispy lines on either side with the A-side fairing better than the flip. One or two faint - and I do mean 'faint' surface marks, though no deep scratches or scuff marks and the labels are clean on both sides with no wear around the centre-hole, definitely one of the best copies I have ever seen. I'd grade the record as somewhere between EX/EX-, maybe VG+ at a push. Most would say EX.

Sleeve is fine, I'd grade this VG+, bordering on EX-, it's reasonably clean with minor wear from handling, though if you look at the back (second photo), you can see the impression of the record showing through - ring-wear and it is quite noticeable when you run your finger over the sleeve (you can feel the ring-wear on the front as well, but it's much harder to see). A little bit of edge-wear, though not to the opening, which is good. As I said - nice, but could so easily be better. That said, like the other two singles, this is a very rare single and probably the toughest to find with a decent sleeve. I can provide more photos if required.

NB: I am a private collector and have been collecting vinyl records – on and off, for well over 40 years, but now I really need the space, hence the reason for these listings! Media (record) graded first — visually under LED lighting, followed by the sleeve.

  • Media Condition: EX/EX-

  • Sleeve Condition: VG+

Grading system
I use the standard grading system introduced by Record Collector to determine the condition of the records I am selling, with either a + or – added where necessary to provide a wider selection of grades for greater accuracy.

  • Mint (M)
The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

  • Excellent (EX)
The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

  • Very Good (VG)
The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

  • Good (G)
The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

  • Fair (F)
The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

  • Poor (P)
The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

  • Bad (B)
The record is unplayable or might even be broken and is only of use as a collection-filler.
