Description
This is a very fine prog psyh LP from a great band called Gentle Giant. It is on the original UK Vertigo 'swirl' label and was released in 1972. It's entitled 'Octopus'. The music is superb with overtones of rock, blues, jazz and psych.
The catalogue number is 6360 080.
OUTER SLEEVE - This is a gatefold type. It is in fine condition with some wear on both sides. there is a black and white Dymo strip which states 'GENTLE GIANT' which has been attached to the top left hand corner of the front cover. The edges and spine are also worn and the wording along the spine is 100% readable although there is a mark down the whole of the spine which has been caused by the sleeve being opened and closed. I've graded the sleeve VG++.
INNER BAG - This is a standard Vertigo expanded swirl type which includes a clear polythene liner. It states at the bottom of one side of the inner bag - 'British Patent No. 800153 & 973939 - MADE IN ENGLAND 4913 000 15801 304 - PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS ETC...' I've graded the inner bag Ex-- because it is slightly creased.
RECORD - This is in fine condition with some minor surface marks on both sides. These do not result in audible surface noise in quiet passages or between tracks . There are no jumps on either side and there are occasional pops and clicks.
LABELS - These are in fine condition and feature on side one the large 'swirl' while on the othere there is a smaller 'swirl' at the top of the label and track listings for sides one (on the left) and two (on the right). It states at the bottom of the label on side two - 'Produced by Gentle Giant'. There are minor spindle marks on both sides.
The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are - side one - 6360080 1Y//1V420 11 2 - side two - 6360080 2Y//1V420 11 5. I've graded the record as Ex--. I believe that this is a fair grading and all my items are fully guaranteed. I don't think that the winner of this auction will be disappointed. The music really is superb.
