Gentle Giant : The Missing Piece A1/B1 1st Press
This first pressing on the Chrysalis label plays to a superb standard with no interference at all. The clarity, depth and power of the audio is so impressive and the vinyl is also visually stunning and has clearly hardly ever been played, there is barely any spindle wear. This is a FINAL UPGRADE version i.e. no need to purchase another as you could not find better audio!
The cover is also in excellent condition with only very minimal wear and the inner sleeve has also been kept in great order. There was no lyric inner with this release.

Visual grading
The vinyl is in beautiful condition and has that immaculate jet-black glossy sheen of a recently pressed vinyl not one that is over 44 years old! There are no marks or scratches and obviously there is no groove wear either. On close inspection I can only find 2/3 very faint hairlines on each side and a couple of very faint sleeve removal scuffs (very very faint!) that have no affect on the stunning audio. Hardly worth a mention really! The run out grooves are super clean the labels near perfect with only a couple of spindle traces on the Side 2 label. This record has hardly been played - a stunning example.
Play grading
'Two Weeks In Spain' plays with superb audio with no clicks or pops and no underlying static either. There are a couple of static ticks on the intro but they are so quiet they hardly deserve a mention! The first vocal plays to perfection and it carries on in the same way. The mid instrumental is 'as new' and the final vocal plays to the same standard. The fade out has no 'background' and this is easily a Mint- start to the album.
The quiet intro on 'I'm Turning Around' plays beautifully with no intrusion and and it continues to play with a clarity that is second to none. A different direction for Gentle Giant for sure but the quality of the audio cannot be faulted in any way. No need for a minus this is Mint in every way.
'Betcha Thought We Couldn't Do It' is of the same 'high end' standard. A powerful track and yet there is no distortion and Mint is again deserved.
Again no need to overelaborate - 'Who Do You Think You Are?' plays with stunning quality from the first note to the last with no interference. Another Mint track.
The final track 'Mountain Time' plays with wonderful clarity and...no interference. The actual sonic quality on this side may not be as strong as say on their early Vertigo pressings but then this was produced on thin vinyl as was common in the mid 70s. Nevertheless this is Mint- and the clarity across the entire side is stunning to say the least.

The intro on 'As Old As You're Young' is 'as new' and as the vocal comes in there is no let up in quality. The clarity throughout is stunning and there is not even a single dust tick to be heard. Amazing audio! Mint
The super quiet intro on 'Memories Of Old Days' keeps up this fine standard with no intrusion and the first instrumental section is nigh on perfect with only a couple of mega light ticks. The first verse has no 'background' and from then it plays with a clarity and depth that is stunning in every way. This really is audio of the highest order and this record has clearly hardly ever been played. Mint-
'Winning' plays to the same standard - in saying that it better as there is not one dust tick to be heard! Another Mint track. It plays with tremendous depth and power from the first groove to the last.
'For Nobody' ends the album with superb audio from the get go. Every section plays with sublime clarity and the almost stand alone vocal sections are absolutely stunning! A 'loud' track and yet if there is any inner groove distortion it is so minimal as to be insignificant. This is such a strong finish to the album and Mint- is easily deserved.
In summary this first pressing plays to a wonderful standard with no interference on either side. This is a FINAL UPGRADE album in my opinion with clarity and depth that cannot be faulted. I cannot overstate just how good the audio is here and I am sure any die-hard collector would agree with me!
The Cover & Inner
The cover is in excellent condition with only minimal shelf wear. The edges have very little rubbing and the spine is very clean with only a couple of small marks and a minor indent. The corners are also very impressive with only a small crease bottom right and the opening edge is as close to perfect as could be. The front cover has only a couple of small creases and a faint sticker removal mark top right. The back cover is also in great shape with just a hint of ringwear near the top. Overall this is a fine example of this cover.
The original plain white inner is very clean with no side splits and barely any creasing. There is a number written top left on one side and a Record Shop stamp on the other.
Play tested on my Pro-Ject Essential III Turntable // B & W 684 Speakers
