GEORGE HARRISON : THE CONCERT FOR BANGLADESH VERY RARE (ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION!!!) 3 LP VINYL BOX SET COMPLETE WITH BOOK!!! UK ORIGINAL 1972 1st PRESSING!!! ON THE 1st PRESS APPLE LABEL!!! IN STUNNING EXCELLENT CONDITION!!!

After being made aware of the gravity of the situation in what was then known as East Pakistan by friend and musician Ravi Shankar, George Harrison quickly organised two performances in their aid, in addition to composing and releasing a single called "Bangla Desh" just preceding the event. With Harrison, highly popular following the success of All Things Must Pass, leading the shows, he wanted to surround himself with his closest musician friends, including Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan (both of whom were in reclusive states at that time), in addition to Billy Preston, Badfinger, Leon Russell and Ringo Starr, among others.

Both John Lennon and Paul McCartney had been asked by Harrison to join, but while McCartney felt it was too soon for a Beatles reunion and declined, Lennon was keen to take part, but recanted his acceptance once he got in an argument with his wife, Yoko Ono, about Harrison's decision that she was not required on stage.

The two concerts on 1 August 1971 were highly successful, with a cheque for US$243,418.50 being immediately sent to UNICEF for relief. All involved were pleased with a job well done. As much as $15 million was made by the album and film, but the money was held in an Internal Revenue Service Escrow account for years because the concert organisers hadn't applied for tax exempt status. It's uncertain how much money actually went to relieve the initial refugee crisis and George Harrison himself was said to have been "disgusted" over the matter.

The Apple centre labels are in stunning excellent + condition (except side 4, please read on & see photo) and all have MADE IN ENGLAND printed on them. They have NO tears, peeling, scribbles and no unwanted writing/biro etc. Under strong light I can see a couple of the fainest spindle marks on each label. Going by the labels I would say these records have only been played once or twice at most!!! Side 4 label is in very good condition as ther is a little mark on it (see photo). I do belive this mark was due to a manafacturing/printing problem.

All three vinyl disc's are in beautiful excellent condition!! copies of this box set normanally turn up today completely worn out with lots of scratches and gouges. These disc's have NO scratches, NO groove wear and NO warping!!! All sides do have a VERY few of the lightest paper scuffs only visible under strong light. These chunky 1970's 1st press disc's all still retain their original just pressed look and feel!!! With one very, very careful play of these records I can confirm that all three records play superbly with no nasty loud pops, no jumps and no skips, just the occasional low level background hiss/crackle. As above I would grade these disc's as in excellent condition and this is no way an over grade.

The original 1st press die-cut brown paper Inner sleeves are all in good condition. All are very clean, bright with NO major creases, NO scribble, NO unwanted writing/biro of any sort. Side 1/6 has a little bottom and one side seam split, side 2/5 has a little bit of bottom seam split, side 3/4 has little bit of side only seam splt. l Grade them all as in good condition and again this is no way an over grade!!

The 1st Press textured coverd 63 page book is in amazing condition with no rips. tears, creases, dogears or any unwanted writing/biro of any sort. It has No loose or missed pages and is still well held togther. All text, photos and artwork is in very clean, bright, unscuffed condition. I grade this book as in excellent ++ condition!! and again this is no way an over grade.

The 1st Press outer box is in stunning condition!!!  It still retains a perfect box shape and all the corners have NO splits!!!  There is the minimal of edge, corner and spine wear. All text and artwork is very clean, bright and unscuffed. There is no unwanted writing/biro etc on this box inside or out!!! Even the inside of the box is in superb condition!! I grade the Outer Box as in excellent ++ and this box is extremely hard to find in this condition!!

THIS BOX SET IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND LIKE THIS, SO DONT MISS OUT ON THIS ONE AS ONCE IT'S GONE IT'S GONE!!!
