This item is a beautiful, solid near-mint vinyl LP pressing of the original Apple album Extra Texture (Read All About It) by George Harrison. With the release of his third post-Beatle studio album Dark Horse in 1974 – recorded when George was not in very good voice (and thus dubbed “Dark Hoarse” by the critics) -- George went out on tour with Ravi Shankar and a band featuring Tom Scott and blues guitarist Robben Ford. This was the first American tour by an ex-Beatle, and therefore expectations were quite high. Given that the Beatles as a group has raised the bar very high, it was inevitable that the critics would do what they do best and harshly criticize George’s performances; of course, George did not help his cause too much, by being way over the top in his religious references and in refusing to change his show in light of the valid criticisms. Following this particularly unpleasant experience, George set about to recording his studio follow up, Extra Texture, eventually released in 1975. His voice was much better and much stronger, but the material was somewhat uneven. There are some great tracks, including This Guitar (Can’t Keep From Crying), Tired of Midnight Blue, and the sly His Name Is Legs. But the tone is pretty dark throughout, and cynicism rules the day. Interesting note – the single “You” was originally written and recorded for Ronnie Spector, but George took it out and dusted it off for this album. However, he really should have changed the key, because it really is at the very top of his vocal register. Also, there are a couple of great in-jokes: the Apple label (now nothing more than a rotten core, the result of the years of on-going litigation) and the legend “Ohnothimagen” on the inner sleeve (a shot at the critics – “Oh, not HIM again…”). Last but not least – this is the original Apple die-cut cover (the letters of “Extra Texture” are cut out to show the inner sleeve photo below) and it is the original textured album cover (feels like a basketball!!), in its original shrink plastic. Doesn’t get any better than this unless you find it in still-sealed condition.
Both the vinyl and the textured die-cut cover are in solid near-mint condition, as shown in the photo.
I do not use stock photos. The photo shows the actual item up for auction.
NOTE: Whenever the listed album is a sealed album, it is collectible and has a substantial part of its value because it is sealed. I cannot assess the record inside for that reason, and so the purchase of every sealed album is "as-is". Since I do not own a store, I cannot return items to the manufacturer. Therefore, once an album is opened, I cannot refund the purchase price in full because opening significantly affects its value.
NOTE TO ALL BUYERS OUTSIDE OF THE US: Pursuant to Paypal Seller Protection Policy sections 11.3 and 11.4, EVERY item paid for by Paypal MUST be sent via PRIORITY INTERNATIONAL MAIL. PLEASE NOTE THAT BIDDING ON THIS ITEM IS ACCEPTANCE OF THIS REQUIREMENT. In addition, the USPS has recently increased their rates yet again. If you need the cost of postage for any item, please send me a message through My eBay, or go to the Postal Service's website. Multi-album LP sets weigh more and, consequently cost more. I will always combine postage, since combining multiple albums saves money.
If you have any questions about shipping costs, please contact me BEFORE YOU BID.
I fully recognize that this results in very high shipping costs, but it is of no benefit to me because the money is paid to the USPS for postage. If you think this policy is unfair, contact Paypal -- I'm only following their Seller Protection Rules. The fact that other sellers may send items by First Class International -- and put themselves at risk for claims -- is immaterial. If you have any questions about my shipping policy or costs, please send me an e-mail via My eBay.
I am not a dealer, and all of the items I place up for auction are from my personal collection gathered over the past forty-plus years. I am selling my collection little by little, to pay for college expenses for my two kids, in my spare time. Shipping within the US is $4.00 per package, via media mail, regardless of the number of records up to 25. If you want Priority shipping within the U.S., the cost is a function of weight and postal zone. Send me a note at the conclusion of the auction, and I will send an invoice indicating the cost of priority (I can also provide this info while the auction is pending, if you e-mail me your zip code and the number of LPs). Insurance through the USPS is available, and once again send me a note requesting that insurance be included in the invoice
PLEASE NOTE: Media mail does not have tracking. The USPS offers delivery confirmation with online tracking. If you want online tracking with delivery confirmation, please let me know and I will send an invoice including the cost for delivery confirmation, which is currently $0.80.

· These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up – do not confuse them for additional shipping charges.
