Label Conditions: Both very clean, fresh and attractive with only very light, fine and faint spindle marks and no wear around the hole area. Just a couple or three each side that are only seen closely under angled light. Another barely played record from a very fine collection.

Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.

Brief Info: The follow-up to the last studio album, the very impressive ‘All Things Must Pass’, and although it sold quite well, many deemed it a little disappointing. In fact it started a decline in fortunes for the former Beatle, the next album ‘Dark Horse’ failed to even chart in the UK at all and was a very bland effort for various reasons. Issued to very poor reviews and the public largely ignored it. This does have a few nice songs, but by the standards set previously, his solo works (for me anyway) seldom lived up to past glories. This is all very pleasant and on safe ground, beautifully packaged for sure and this copy in super condition. For those needing this album, it will not prove too easy to find a much better one.

Cover Grade and Format: EXCELLENT(++): a fully laminated gatefold format Printed and made in England. Includes the fold inner sleeve and incredibly colourful lyric gatefold insert.

Lamination – Front & Back: Both side in superb condition, this has laminate has a more semi-gloss sheen rather than full deep shine. I am sure it was like this when made, some laminate types are not as shiny as others. An ultra faint rim impression seen with scrutiny on the back under light but little else to really fault. A hint of a faint lift near the front bottom edge but all other is super tight and fully adhered. A very faint production line is seen only just seen, parallel on each side, this nothing to do with wear, but a fairly common trait of manufacture – hardly know why I mention it really, but simply to explain it’s a natural mark that most will have. Clear and fresh looking with barely a crease to be seen, simply superb outer faces and cover-protected from new.

Cover Inner Gatefold: The inside is pristine Mint, so-much-so, I cannot even open it fully as to protect the uncracked laminate on the inside fold hinge. This has a loud creak and crackle on opening and is as fresh and clean as when made. Simply fantastic.

Top Edges: Both as made and very straight.

Bottom Edges: A very fine and faint rub trace only, practically as above.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Clean, sharp with barely a hint of any wear and no trimming. Record enters on the back edge.

Spine and Text: Stunning, pristine as made: solid, straight, uncompressed and square, the edges are parallel and meet up closely together. All text is pristine perfect under the solid and uncracked laminate. They simply do not get better than this.

Corners: Any tip rubbing is tiny and little. All retain near mint shape with no creasing or dinks.

Cover Summary: A hugely impressive all-round example of this 1970’s cover, one that will prove very difficult to find much better. This beautiful item should please most-all collectors.

The Inner Sleeve: MINT(-): and even under graded at that. A superb unlined gold-coloured card inner that is little short of pristine. The shaped and recessed top opening is immaculate and totally unblemished and the same can be said for a part of this inner. It looks barely even handled with any record impression from light and faint.

The Inner Sleeve: MINT(-): a very colourful graphic on the front, inside are the song lyrics. Again immaculate, just a fraction folded off-square, this being critical. The back is intense black and very prone to fingermarks, this has barely a trace and once applied, very difficult to remove – hence, this has hardly been handled either.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: MINT(-): a super visual copy that is very clean, shiny, intense black and very solidly pressed. A copy barely even played on all the evidence with any surface traces tiny, few and faint, hardly in fact even under bright light viewing. Visually a super record that should please most-all collectors again.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or minuscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This impressive record plays up to it’s high visual grading with practically nothing to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Any surface sounds barely even registered and no pops or significant clicks were noted and this is an exceptional clean pressing. Just the odd one or two one-off clicks is difficult to avoid, but no more than that. Few copies will outperform this early pressing significantly I feel sure. Both channels are clean and sharp, I am certain this record has been played very lightly and has been clearly well stored and carefully handled within a non-smoking environment. Nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this very clean record. This copy will prove very difficult to find significantly better and can be strongly recommended.

The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my new VPI-17 Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional boxes (NOT Mailers, these do not offer any real protection). The record(s) are REMOVED from their main cover to avoid edge splits and placed within a brand new polylined inner. The record’s original inner will be included if available. The boxes are then reinforced with at least TWO, ULTRA THICK stiffeners for maximum extra protection – these are FOUR TIMES thicker than commercial stiffeners and are custom-made for oneadayrecords. SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
