Description

GEORGE HARRISON Wonderwall Music (Apple Sapcor 1) RARE UK 1/G 1st Pressing + Insert EX+

RAREST very first UK pressing of George Harrison`s original soundtrack "Wonderwall Music", released on Apple Records (November 1968).

With its "1/G" mothers and stampers on both sides of the lp, this copy of "Wonderwall Music" stems from the very first batch of 300 copies ever made!

"An undistinguished film muzak sampler on which real music manages to surface only on the Bombay-recorded pieces (...) but these have little to do with Harrison and it is the [Indian] musicians' own excellence which salvages the general disorganisation of the LP."  - Roy Carr & Tony Tyler, The Beatles: An Illustrated Record (1975).

GRADING:

EX(+) COVER in very fine all-round condition. Please see photos for details.

- Pristine original fully laminated UK first-press sleeve that still retains its full original shine and lustre.

- A few small creases along the spine, as well as three superficial creases near the opening edge (at front, center).

- Lightest record imprint, mainly to the back cover.

- Includes the original George Harrison photo/insert in stunning NEAR MINT condition.

- Also includes the original matt-black Apple Records inner sleeve in EX condition, with a seam split to the bottom edge.

EX(+) RECORD, again in very fine all-round condition.

- Very passable vinyl on both sides, with near-impeccable audio reproduction throughout.

- Visually, the vinyl shows a few light signs of previous play, with two or three superficial scuffs on each side.

- However, no scratches, no clicks or pops whatsoever!

- Lightest, very sporadic background crackle or static in between some tracks.

- Original UK first pressing Apple Records labels with "Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions" affix.

- Original UK first-pressing Apple Records labels with two to three light spindle lines on each label.

- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "SAPCOR 1A -1" and "SAPCOR 1B -2". "STAP 1 A1" and "STAP 1 B2" matrix stamps have been crossed out.

- Mothers/Stampers: "1 / G" on Side One and "1 / G" on Side Two.

Here`s what the above stamper information tells us:

Both Side One and Side Two stem from the very first batch ever made, i.e. from copies nos. 001-300 of "Wonderwall Music"!

- This record is hereby fully certified to be an original, very first UK pressing of "Wonderwall Music", released in November 1968.
