Description

G.F. Fitz-Gerald: "Mouseproof" 1970, UK/Uni UNLS 115. Disc is in nice EX to M- shape with some faint hairlines, plays M- or very close. Gatefold cover has seam wear (no splits) and a small white-on-white sticker pull at the bottom of the back cover... it's very discreet, you have to tilt the cover into the light perfectly to see it. The cover gets a strong VG+ grade but I'm not sure you could upgrade it. Has the insert. Super copy of this British underground LP! Great photo inside the gatefold of the Fitz in his home studio, surrounded by vintage amps, effects, instruments and reel-to-reel machines. And it does have an informal, home studio vibe to it, even though it's anything but! It was recorded at Advision, with Sam Gopal on tablas, and B.J. Cole on steel guitar (Uriah Heep, Humble Pie, Dave Edmunds, Trapeze), Rik Kenton on bass (Woody Kern, Roxy Music), while Martin Rushent handled the mixing board (T Rex, Gentle Giant, SAHB, Groundhogs). Apparently some combination of the LP contributors played live as "Mouseproof" at the dawn of the decade. The LP samples a wide variety of genres... folk rock, country-rock, druggy psych, electronic music; it has some melodic stuff that reminds me of the Dutch band OPMC... and some very uncommercial progressive rock that could have provided the soundtrack to an experimental film about the pitfalls of excessive acid use. It's a very cool LP which also garnered a release in Germany and has more recently been reissued on CD. The discs are always removed from the jackets to prevent seam splits, and all albums are dressed in plastic sleeves for travel. Please be aware that these supplies are expensive to purchase and may represent a small portion of my shipping charges. I pack/ship one day per week, usually it is Friday.
