MATALO / BOCCA DI ROSA ... 7-inch, 45rpm OST single by GIANO TON aka GIACOMO TOSTI with MARIO MIGLIARDI ORCHESTRA / PAOLO ORMI ORCHESTRA and I CANTORI MODERNI Di ALESSANDRONI. Original Italian pressing on RCA ITALIANA label (PM 3550), from 1970. Outstanding, acid psych / funky rock / strange pop oddity by the Italian producer behind Dicky Oliver / Tony Mimms / I Pyranas et al :) Underground mood music featuring his killer MATALO theme from the cult spaghetti western film directed by Cesare Canevari (who some described as John Ford on lsd). No original soundtrack Lp was ever released, only this theme on an elusive 7inch ;) Strung-out guitar shredding with fuzz distortions / rock beats and basslines / lead vocals sung in broken English and wonderfully sinister harmony backing by the Alessandroni singers. The drums (and voices) are like a variation on the Mario Migliardi - Apollo Beat theme and the overall sound is also similar to I Camel from the same Espressioni Musicali e Suoni D'Attualita e Di Moda 2 - RCA SP Library too. Great for DJs with booming production. Should also appeal to Le Beat Bespoke comp lovers and euro freakbeat garage collectors. The BOCCA DI ROSA side is joyous folk pop, orchestrated by Paolo Ormi with unknown female singer. A contrasting double-sider, with counter-culture / flower power nuances of the period. Unusual sleeve artwork showing Giano sitting at the feet of Venus. Seldom comes up for sale now. Rare OST 45!!!
Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
Vinyl is in shiny VG+ condition regardless of any hairlines / light scuffs. Some light surface noises. Booming production sound. A couple of soft pops / soft ticks in places (as you can hear on our soundclip). Mini, old sticker mark with ink fading to one side of label (see photo). The soft card picture sleeve is in strong VG++ condition with some light ring creasing and some other general creasing from storage. Sharp corners with minimal light wear. A touch of natural age discoloration. A few faint dirt marks / faint spots to back sleeve. Rare OST 45!!! bboy b-boy b boy
