Description
This is a 45 rpm record by Gilbert Giroir under his alias “Gil Giroy” performing “Laura Lee” on one side and “Do You Take Me For a Fool” on the other . It was pressed on the Demo Records label as catalog number 3 (CP-1791).
All of my 45s are cleaned with the Disc Doctor’s Quick Cleaning solution and play graded. Some records have visual defects but sound great while others look great but don’t sound so good - I listen to them and describe both the visual and aural qualities of the record.
This record has some light scratches, but plays as a VG+ on the rockabilly cut Laura Lee, as the music covers any defects. There is, however, "PM" marked on the label. There is some audible grish, mostly at the beginning, on the Do You Take Me For a Fool side, which is more like a country influenced 12/8 ballad. Laura Lee is authentic rockabilly with a very nice guitar solo in the middle of the tune. Do You Take Me For a Fool has a strong country influence, complete with a rather flat nasal vocal and out of tune saxophone. No matter, still very authentic and real sounding and this is a very rare record, hard to find in any condition.
Please check my other auctions for more 45s from the same collection, most records rare or hard to find 1960s Northern Soul promos from a radio station, but other styles as well……
Shipping
Canadian buyers, please note that although we offer shipping through Champlain, NY for our American customers, we are a registered business located in Canada and must therefore charge applicable GST/HST/PST to Canadian buyers - please read further to understand our shipping methodology and note all costs so that there is no misunderstanding when rating shipping costs post-sale.
I ship to my US clients through USPS services as long as the value of the item does not exceed $200. For items that sell for over $200.00, I must ship to my U.S. clients using Canada Post. This is due to restrictions outlined in the North American Free Trade Agreement, chapter 3.21. I am located in Canada but I have a carrier service to bring my parcels directly across the border on either Tuesday or Wednesday to be shipped out of the USPS postal outlet in Champlain, N.Y. In addition to the actual shipping cost, I do charge a $5.00 handling fee to help offset the cost of this special US service and new packaging for this piece. Please note that even with the handling fee that it is less expensive and is a quicker service than using Canada Post.
To my Canadian clients, I use Canada Post for shipping, as I am based in Canada - legally, I am not permitted to ship to you through the US, so do not rely on the US shipping calculator for costs.
To my International clients I can ship by either Canada Post or by USPS (in order to use USPS for intl. clients, the items must sell for under $200.00).
Please feel free to write with any inquiries in regards to cost of shipping to you.
Payment
Because I have a scheduled pick-up on either Tuesday or Wednesday, I would require your Paypal payment by Monday at 5:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.
BUYER PAYS SHIPPING - PLEASE DO NOT PAY UNTIL I CONTACT YOU AFTER THE AUCTION to avoid error. The reason for this is that package sizes and weights are estimates only as we cannot fully package items before they are sold. Please e-mail us for a shipping quote or wait until after the auction for a precise shipping cost. Our auctions end on Sunday evening, so I will be in touch with the correct invoice on Sunday evening or by the latest Monday morning, after we have had the chance to carefully package your item.
I would request any client to get in touch with me upon winning an item, who is not able to pay by Monday at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, so I can get an idea of when to expect your payment.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE: CANADIAN RESIDENTS PAY GST/HST and QUEBEC RESIDENTS PAY BOTH THE GST AND PST TAX.
Terms of Sale
Being auctions, we do not accept returns unless an item has been significantly not as described. We describe very thoroughly, both with photos and text, but in the case that an item has been misrepresented, we will accept a return for full refund, including shipping costs.
International customers, please do not ask us to falsify customs documentation:
"Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding / buying. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up - do not confuse them for additional shipping charges. We do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as "gifts" - US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior."
