GILA Free Electric Sound (BASF 20 21109-6) RARE German 1st Pressing + Poster Promo Photo MINT-
RARE very first German pressing of Gila`s eponymous krautrock masterpiece, also known as "Free Electric Sound", on BASF Records (1971).
Highly regarded amongst the cognoscenti, Gila`s debut album is one of the quintessential krautrock albums of the era. Made for those with a taste for space (Pink Floyd), those enjoying free-floating vistas (Ash Ra Tempel), interspersed with aggressive, Hendrixian guitar-work-outs and seasoned with a sprinkling of Mid-Eastern modal influences (Agitation Free).
An extremely tasteful dish, but perhaps a bit on the cold side of the planet of your choosing..but then, so was the music of, say, Tangerine Dream. Or Can, for that matter.
GRADING:
EX+ COVER with a bit of handling wear. Please see the photos for details.
- Fully laminated gatefold sleeve with original "+ Super Poster"-sticker (at bottom right).
- Spine and edges have a few light creases each, as shown on photos.
- Minor abrasion and bump to corner (at top left).
- Minor corner bend to the rear gatefold sleeve.
- Small nick to the opening edge of the rear cover (near the top) with tiny area (1cm) of laminate removal.
- Crease on the inside of rear gatefold sleeve (at bottom, center) with adjacent near-invisible water stain (corner, bottom right).
...and now for the really good news!
- Includes original "super poster" in amazing, obviously unused MINT- condition.
- This copy of "Gila" also comes with an incredibly RARE, original BASF promo photo (13cm x 18cm) that replicates the band photo from inside the gatefold. The promo photo is obviously so rare that I couldn`t find any mention of it being included in any previous eBay sale of "Gila"!
EX++ to MINT- RECORD, carefully played a few times at most.
- The audio reproduction is practically perfect.
- Faintest, very sporadic background crackle in between some tracks and in very quiet passages.
- A single, absolutely superficial and inaudible paper scuff (5 inches long; not a scratch) runs across half of side two.
- Original German first-press BASF labels with no spindle lining whatsoever.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "A-0437 A1/C 3 A" and "A-0437 B1/C 3 A", respectively.
- Fully certified to be an original, very first German pressing of Gila`s "Free Electric Sound", as found in selected stores in 1971.
Miss out on this RARE collector`s item at your own peril. A near-impossible find nowadays in MINT- condition!
