Artist/s:    Glen Ayers with Red Simpson (rare original 7" single)

Notes:   This is a very rare record.  I just checked on Popsike and it showed zero records by this artist.  Users of that website will know the truth of what I am saying.  IT IS VERY RARE.   I think the record is worth more than the listed price but I have a big move on the horizon and need to clear all of my stock.

The main thrust of the Bakersfield movement was to make music which was different to the thousands of sessions churned out in Nashville.  Tally Records of Bakersfield, California were in the forefront of this departure and the music here is decidedly different to the general run of 45s at that time.  The vocals are by Red Simpson (a leading light in the Bakersfield milieu) with the Keynotes

Titles:

  • Sweet Love
  • Dolly Blues

Issued on Tally 112 in 1957.

The vinyl play graded:  VG++.

Labels:  as per my photos which are of the record being offered.

GRADING

45s can be tricky to grade so these days I at least let the needle drop on the vinyl to hear what's going on.  Mostly, this play grading is just for as long as it takes me to check the date of issue.  But I like listing 45s.  It's fun, so fairly often I play the whole thing and holler at my wife to check it out.  LOL
