Clocking in at a hair over 25 minutes, Contact High is an unholy mess of a record. Opening with the track "White Cat Heat," which consists of clumsily strummed acoustic guitars, arhythmic percussion, and Jim McCarthy and Larry Kessler screeching like a couple of, uh, cats in heat, it gets weirder. Best tracks are "1+1 Equals ?" and the hilarious "Lay in the Sun" (total lyrics: "All I want to do is lay in the sun"). For those who like their rock on the cutting edge, begin here and don't turn back.

In the 2001 poll by the Mojo magazine, The Godz, the obscure psych/garage band from the mid-to-late 1960's, were voted out one of the seminal top-200 cult bands of all time. The Magazine specifically attributed the Godz's influence and surprisingly sparse, austere guitar-driven sound to such later bands as Sonic Youth and Nirvana. This extremely rare FIRST Godz' album from 1967, was recorded for the legendary experimental/radical/ vanguard ESP label. The music will shake your speakers off their stands. The Godz were one of the most rudimentary, primitive and crude, but at the same time most authentic, of all 1960's psych/garage bands. Hearing is believing. If you wish to experience the sixties in one of their more radical and extreme embodiments, try this.. This real bit of Psych/Garage history does not show up all that often. Miss it now and weep until the next shoddy reissue comes along.

(b)          The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more  preferable to its stereo counterpart. We think that the mix is more natural, humane, "organic" and that the mixes are somewhat different than on the stereo version. We estimate that stereo copies of this album outnumber mono pressings by a ratio of at least 3:1.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

-         Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine

-         Cover has a light "wrinkle" (crease)  in one of the corners.

-         Minor shelf wear noted on the bottom seam (nothing significant)
