Techno Side 1 - Track 1. Old Town Side 1 - Track 2. Lido Sands Side 2 - Track 1. Against The Tide Clock Side 2 - Track 2. Amusements
Detroit-based artist Rebecca Goldberg continues her run of raw, evocative machine music with a four-track outing made during a 2024 residency in Margate. While her roots lie in the city's stripped-back techno traditions, this release folds in a new kind of tactility-field recordings of seagulls, arcade clatter and the swell of coastal air, gathered around Dreamland and fed through vintage hardware in Yuri Suzuki's studio. 'Old Town' moves with a piston pulse, swerving between restraint and release. 'Lido Sands' sculpts waves of metallic texture into a kind of blurred acid dub, while 'Against the Tide Clock' pivots to crunchy electro minimalism. Closer 'Amusements' is both the most rhythmic and the most playful, circling a looped motif like a wonky carousel. Still Detroit in spirit, but now refracted through salt air and decay, this is Goldberg at her most dynamic and expressive-rooted in form, but wide open to place
