GOLDEN EARRING - MOONTAN
An excellent condition copy of this 1973 UK 1st press Golden Earring gem
Year/Label : 1973 UK TRACK Label number : 2406-112 Matrix numbers : 240611 2 A 1, 240611 2 B 1 Stampers : 11 14 / 11 3Very good plus (VG+) condition vinyl (many would grade as "excellent", I am sure) - completely flat, weighty and retaining a lovely jet black lacquered sheen with earliest UK press "A1/B1" matrices. In normal daylight each side of the vinyl appears virtually unmarked and it is only with close inspection under a bright light that some sporadic wispy hairlines and extremely faint paper scuffs come into view on each side, indicating a reasonable number of plays - all non-feelable and appearing to be purely superficial. The labels are in excellent (EX) condition - with very close inspection it is possible to identify some small and extremely faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label, otherwise perfect. The condition of the non-laminated MacNeill Press gatefold is very good plus (VG+) - each edge remains firm with virtually no scuffing at all - just a 1cm very light edge scuff at the very top of the spine. The spine itself remains firm and with all spine text nicely intact. Each corner is a nicely defined right angle with a little rubbing on each, the opening edges are firm with no fraying, there is no cardboard creasing or unwanted writing, the interior of the gatefold is in great condition, and all colours, text, and art work remain vibrantly impressive with excellent definition still. The only blemishes are just the occasional small and very light handling/storage/age related marks towards the edges - each very trivial and "VG+" is probably a conservative grading...do take a good look at my photos where I have tried to give an honest and accurate appraisal. This gatefold remains fully functional and highly presentable. The all-important insert (song lyrics on one side and photos on the other) is present and in great condition still. Truly excellent (EX) sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, distortion or background crackle - great tone and crystal clear audio reproduction with terrific stereo sound quality throughout. There are a couple of very light clicks towards the end of both A1 and B1 for which I can find no obvious cause (perhaps a speck or two of dust caught in the grooves through decades of upright storage?) and you might come across one or two further light random clicks - each very trivial and non-intrusive. What an excellent and vastly underrated LP this remains with every track a great listen. Comes with original excellent (EX) condition poly-lined inner sleeve with no side splits, no tears or edge fraying, a little mild age discolouration and some minor occasional surface creasing. And just for good measure the stamp of the record shop from which this record was originally bought all those years ago remains on the front side. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original. An overall impressive condition copy of this 1973 UK 1st press Golden Earring gem with the wonderful stereo sound quality being a true highlight.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
