Superb Full Gloss Vinyl is spotless - looks virtually unplayed, viewed under hard bright light. Labels are super clean with faintest, few spindle traces barely visible inside center circle only.

Very close to Near Mint; spanking clean and snapping bright with no ring wear, soil or marks. Back shows very light shelf wear to outer coating only. a few soft edge creases off of spine, All edges straight, all corners sharp. Seams and flat, even spine are 100% intact with no wear or splits. Spine text is perfect - fully legible, clear and crisp with no fade. Inside Gatefold is immaculate with added DAEVID ALLEN signature / inscription in purple ink.

Recorded at Studio ETA Studio Europa Sonor, Paris during September and October 1969
"Distribution Discodis" printed over the Buddha and "BYG RECORDS margue dèposèe de la sociètè Promodisc" under the Buddha on inside gatefold.
On top right in front cover : MONO/STEREO 529 305
Black and Silver labels, with BIEM logo in a Box.
All songs written by Daevid Allen, though credited to his partner Gilli Smyth for legal reasons.

Most of these GONG / DAEVID ALLEN LPs were signed by Daevid Allen at his signing appearance at my record store in 1980 when I produced him in concert (Carmel California, Private invite-only gig) in a wonderful Dinner Theater - with the stage already set-up with an eccentric 'English sitting room' set - during his 'DIVIDED ALIEN CLOCKWORKS' period. Some were signed after the gig; some signed the next morning (at Breakfast ...we took Daevid and his lady Maggie out to eat before he left town). a few were signed at the 'Manifestival of Progressive Rock" earlier that year in L.A.,or later that evening at a party in Hollywood where he played unannounced. This was when I initially suggested the Carmel Concert to him... My good friend Lance (and indeed my record store employee - and a dyed-in-the-wool GONG freak) was there at all times. Lance (former owner of all these LPs) put Daevid to the test with never-ending signing requests - and Daevid signed them all in different ways, sometimes with his various alter-egos - and eventually, he signed a 2nd copy of this LP as "EDITH SITWELL". Only then did Lance finally stop asking him to sign more LPs.

He signed this one: "for Lance, daevid 1980 Carmel".

Magick Brother is the debut studio album by the Progressive/Space rock phenomenon GONG.

The band's recently recruited bass player ('Submarine Captain') Christian Tritsch was not ready in time to play on the album, and so Daevid Allen played most of the bass guitar parts himself. (a photo of Allen recording bass tracks for the album is the front cover photo). They also made use of jazz contrabass (double bass) players Earl Freeman and Barre Phillips, who were recording for the label at the same time, on three tracks. Occasional early Gong collaborator Dieter Gewissler, who normally played violin, also contributed some "free" bowed contrabass to two tracks. Didier Malherbe ('Bloomdido') already onboard by this time - featured throughout the LP.

Shortly afterwards, the band played its debut gig at the BYG Actuel Festival in the small town of Amougies, Belgium, on 27 October 1969, introduced to the stage by bemused compere Frank Zappa.

who was a DJ at the Radio Station I co-founded in the 1970's - and who worked for me at my California record store in the '70s and '80s.
Sadly he has now finally left this mortal coil, bequeathing me his deep Vinyl Mine.

I do NOT EVER want to exclude all bidders from any particular country, even though a few specific countries are responsible for almost all spurious "not received" or "not as described" claims over the years. This evolves... for instance in France, buyers from Ile de France area seem, more and more, to be very prone to make a false claim. (one of my earliest, very best customers was from Ile de France but moved to Belgium some years back) ...so even there, I hate to exclude ALL buyers from there; however I cannot possibly afford to be scammed due to the unlucky result of a winning bidder being a bad actor. Also it seems to be the fun game recently for some in Germany, Spain and Italy to buy far more than the collector can afford and make false claims on many of them. Again I will need to know you can be trusted. Many, many great buyers in all those countries, but plenty of trouble comes from them as well. Brazil has terrible post/mail problems. Italy has long Customs hold times. In NONE of those cases is it my fault and I will not lose out because of other countries' problems beyond my control. Occasional problems from China and Russia -I reserve the right to cancel a sale or bids from any buyer, case-by-case if I note problematic behavior or red flags.

Having said that, I will not ever cancel any bidders with solid, good reputations and feedback.
