Description
Up for auction is this Super RARE V7 Black Flag Nervous Breakdown 7" EP YELLOW Translucent vinyl! No rips or tears, very light ring wear, a little rippling on the top opening of sleeve, NO sticky residue from old price tags, no massive bends on the sleeve, no black coffee (pun) stains, super nice and super clean for being 34+ years old. Please see ALL pic's! I am the original owner. It was printed, went straight to Hogwild Records store in San Antonio Texas, the best record store ever!, and into my hands where it has been it's entire life!!!
Why is it rare? What pressing? What is "V7"???
FIRST off, If you haven't read the mega informative & descriptive history about this 7" on DISCOGS please read it!!! It tells you everything about this record, with a fine tooth comb, and has awesome links from different punk rock research historians.
SECOND, do not ask, what pressing this is? Because that's a big debate still, 45 years later, again, read the DISCOGS research and blogspot link please. Pressing? NO!!!
INSTEAD, they are called VERSIONS! This record has 16, yes 16 different versions, Or, V16! Version #1, V1, being the 1st and oldest, version #16, V16, being the last and newest pressing, NO!!!... VERSION! Cool, easy and simple right? Cool!
THIS vinyl you are bidding on, the V7, has the most changes, firsts, lasts, oddities and differences than all the other versions ever printed! Sounds pretty rare to me!
Long story short:
☆ V1 thru V6 were ALL Black vinyl, ALL had pink fuchsia labels & ALL had a BIG hole.
☆ V7, was the FIRST version to have colored vinyl. Yellow, or gold some say, translucent vinyl. V8 & V9 were red vinyl, only difference, small hole AND big hole.
☆ V7, was the FIRST to have a SMALL hole!
☆ V7, was the FIRST to kick pink to the curb and have a completely redesigned BLUE label! This new label was printed on all the following new versions to the very last V16!
☆ V7, was the FIRST to have the TYPO of the title track song, Nervous Breakdown, printed incorrectly! (2:55) instead of the actual play time, (2:05). This TYPO error was somehow never caught because they ran this TYPO all the way to the very last copy, V16! Crazy Right?! The title track TYPO!!! Punk rock doesn't need proof readers!!!
☆V7, FIRST to change "side A & B" to "side one and two" on the label. Big bars and big black flag now.
☆ V7 LASTS= no bar code. Pettibon artwork is still large full size print on back. His comic book ad and address on back cover.
☆And LASTLY, V7 was the LAST version to have the Red Ink Sleeve. They had leftover Red sleeves from the V6 records, so they used what was left, (unknown #, 500 or 1000, I've heard both so not sure), for the NEW and FIRST of the 3 colored vinyl series...
