The Grateful Dead (S/T) Warner Bros. W 1689
Their auspicious first lp, the second side of which remains some of their finest recorded work ever (their original rendition of “Morning Dew”, “New, New Minglewood Blues” and the awesome 10 minute “Viola Lee Blues”). Everyone always talks about Jerry’s remarkable lead guitar, but is there a finer or more interesting rhythm guitarist on the planet than Bob Weir? I think not. Listen to these early sides with that in mind. He has impeccable harmonic intelligence and an uncanny ability to improvise his chords in perfect sync and as a bridge between Garcia’s lead and Phil Lesh’s wonderful bass lines. I’m just saying...
This is the first issue gold label, and it’s the rare mono issue. Disc is VG+; cover has seam splits and general wear (small tear and sticker residue, ringwear, some water damage on back).

After a three year hiatus, during which we moved and built our Permanentrecords library/vault/watering hole, we are finally up and running as an Ebay seller again. Welcome back to all our old friends and hello to new ones. We’re going to try things a bit differently this time. We will still feature great, rare, obscure, strange and little-known vinyl, but we’ve decided on no reserves and a very low opening bid on even the choicest stuff. We’re hoping that this will keep you coming back to us for the chance at some genuine bargains and maybe even steals, as we allow each item to find its natural price. We are also hoping to expand into some of our other interests in the near future, like vintage clothes and books.
