Description
Original owner. Bought in 1968 when first issued. Record in very good condition overall. No skips or scratches. No warping. Some minor surface noise on the last 1/3 of "Dark Star". This studio version did not appear on the "Anthem of the Sun" LP from the same year.
"Born Cross-Eyed" differs in some respects from the LP version on "Anthem of the Sun": the brass brief overdubs are more prominent; Pigpen's organ breaks are more atmospheric; whereas its ending on "Anthem of the Sun" is abrupt, here, some of the feedback/electronic sounds which appear elsewhere on that album are added and fade during the last 30 seconds of the side.
The original color sleeve shows signs of wear, but the color is still fresh after 56 Years. I've kept the 45 in a plastic sleeve for decades, unplayed, and only recently listened to it to assess its playing condition. Sounds very good indeed.
