Hi,

This auction is for the second Dick's Picks LP release. It is an amazing chunk of music taken from 10/31/71, Halloween night at the Columbus Theatre in Columbus OH. This is from Keith's first tour with the Dead and he has so much creativity and enthusiasm. I think fall of '71 is an under appreciated tour. Especially since the next three years after this one are such monsters. Both in the length of the shows and the jams created. This tour is notable for not having Donna in the band yet, so if that prospect appeals to you than this is your show. This is in my top three favorite Dick's Picks and there are a lot of great shows in that series. The Dark Star is the centerpiece of this release and it's a beauty. It is also in my top three favorites. I just think it's lyrical and melodic and beautiful even if Jerry only sings one verse. Sometimes early Dark Stars sounded like a lumbering Dragon taking flight and sometimes they got really spacey and weird, which I also love, but this one has a quality that I've only heard in this one version. The jam is very airy sounding and Jerry's playing is full of emotion and beauty.

This has been sold out for a couple years now and is becoming more and more sought after. This is brand new and unopened.
