Description

GRAY GHOST

A: Black Sunshine

B: Plastic Shadow

[Pirate Records 010571, Promo Copy, 1971, US]

Vinyl Condition: NM (strict grading, more specific info below). I bought it unplayed a few years ago and I have played it twice (second time when I recorded the sound file).

This is a blank-label demo 45 in near mint condition that which I believe was originally pressed in only 100 copies.  This is the same Sidney Wakefield recording on the small private Houston, Texas label (Pirate 010571) which can be found with the black and white Pirate label.

The blank-labelled copies were used for demo and promotional purposes, allowing information (names, titles, phone numbers, etc.) to be written on the blank labels.  Released in 1971, this is a great two-sider with late 60’s sounding psych/garage which has remained un-comped.

”Black Sunshine” was originally recorded as an instrumental by Kennelmus and appears on their ”Beyond The Folkstone Prism”. The bands seems to be related and the song appears to be an altered recording with additonal fuzz guitar and vocals added on to it.

Listen to a sound file of ”BLACK SUNSHINE”

Listen to ”PLASTIC SHADOW”

NM: A perfect copy, like new. Looks great and is more or less unplayed. I do not use this grade very often but if I do you will get a great copy!

VG++ The record will have a few paper sleeve marks or light scuffs that should not affect play. Visually it will have some light marks but will play close to NM with minimal surface noise.

VG+: Vinyl will show some marks and paper scuffs and may have some very light surface noise. This is a very nice copy.

VG: Record will have some noticeable surface noise in parts and more light scuffs and/or scratches. Record may have an occasional light pop or click here and there.

VG-: Vinyl will clearly show more paper scuffs, scratches and wear. You may be able to feel the scrathes with a fingernail. There record will play with some considerable surface noise and pops. The record still plays fine with no skipping.

G: The record will show heavy wear and play with considerable surface noise and pops but without skipping. This would still be a copy that you can put on and enjoy listening to. Good does not mean bad!
