Polydor issued this same catalogue number LP in 1973 as the first reissue following the 1968 Track pressings. This is not that LP; this one has been extracted from the 1980 13-LP box set (Polydor 2625 040). Note that this gatefold laminated sleeve bears the catalogue number 2657 012, the labels show different which is correct as I have a (less clean )1973 copy to compare.
If you're still with me, giveaways to this being the 1980 pressing are the gold embossed 'LIMITED EDITION BOX SET' on the rear sleeve and the fact someone has written 'September 18th 1980' on the side of one of the inner sleeves.
So, the sleeve is in excellent nick. Sharp, solid and clean. Has some laminate shrinkage cracking along the inside fold but this is solely a measure of its' age. I'd still give the sleeve a rating of 9/10 for condition.
For the records themselves, the labels and vinyl are really clean. Machine edged matrix numbers on all the dead wax runoffs. I'm looking for evidence of play at the spindle holes but struggling. Disc 1 still has a vinyl whisker in the hole from the pressing process so that is virgin and Disc 2 maybe has had a play on one side. But important to remember that although mostly unplayed, the vinyl is 37 years old and shows some faint scuff marks under the all knowing desk light. I'm playing the devil's advocate though and like the sleeve I'm inclined to give the vinyl 9/10 also.
The inner sleeves are the original polythene lined originals which the handwritten date confirms of course.
