This is what Lawrence Livermore said about the sweet children 7": "The first thing they recorded was the 1,000 Hours EP. They were still called Sweet Children when they recorded it (early 1989) but changed their name to Green Day before it came out (April 1989). The first album, 39/Smooth (1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours in CD and cassette form) was also recorded before the Sweet Children EP (recorded summer of 1990) and before Tre joined. Tre was still in the Lookouts until the summer of 1990, and joined Green Day in November of 1990." This EP was recorded on their first tour, in Minneapolis. There is a simple reason that this 7" can't be released in 1987. In that year they were called sweet children, but they released it as Green Day. In fact, they didn't even have a drummer in 1987, the band Sweet Children was formed in 1988. And if you check the pictures below, on the back cover of the second pressing, it says: recorded summer of ninety.
