Description

GREENHEAD VOLUME ONE school band PRIVATE LP Look Records 1980 psych folk group

Original UK custom pressing LP on Look Records (LK/LP 6484).

Music from Greenhead Grammar School in Keighley, West Yorkshire, directed by Nicholas A. Mann. Seems like the parents and teachers were involved and not just the children, as this sounds quite professional!

Features pieces by Senior Choir, Junior Choir, Senior Folk Group, Junior Folk Group, Guitar Duet, Barber Shop Close Harmony Group, and Brass Band.

What stands out are the contributions by the Junior and Senior Folk groups who provide four tracks together, with 'Till The Sun Comes Shining Through' in really nice psych folk territory, having a senior lead vocal and junior backing vocals. They also do similarly good versions of George Harrison's 'Here Comes The sun', 'Jug of Punch', and the more traditional sounding 'Farewell to Tarwathie'.

On the other tracks, the Brass Band and Guitar Duet sound very competent, and there are some excellent vocal/choir parts.

Comes in original front-laminated picture sleeve and has original plain paper inner sleeve.

Tracks:

SWINGIN SAMSON
GUITAR DUET
TILL THE SIN COMES SHINING THROUGH
LAZY TRUMPETER

THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES
WHEN I'M SIXTY FOUR
JUG OF PUNCH
FLORAL DANCE
HERE COMES THE SUN
MY EVALINE
YES SIR THAT'S MY BABY
FAREWELL TO TARWATHIE
SLAIDBURN

Vinyl in very good+ condition. There is a small mild scuff mark near the end of side 1 causing a handful of ticks as the third track is fading out and the last track is fading in. Otherwise sounds very good+ to excellent.
Sleeve in excellent- condition.
