GREG WELCH 'Driven By The Rain' PRIVATE PRESS/UNKNOWN/OUTSIDER LP Destino Records ((DS 331)) I can find absolutely NO information about Greg, or this 'label'. Judging from the songs/songwriting, this is from the mid to late 1960's. The address for the 'record label' is Salt Lake City, UT. All originals outside of a couple of traditionals including 'Forever Gone Away' (Morning Dew). You have a number of rockers, with a full band, and number of acoustic/troubadour style tunes. This isn't necessarily a true psychedelic sound, so much as it is an early version of what psych was to become. The production varies as well, sounds like he might have jumped from studio to studio, or perhaps some recorded at home. You can hear 'Winter's Here' ((with a pretty great 'Taxman' ripoff)), and 'Regret' both which feature a band. 'Forever Gone Away' & 'Driven By The Rain' being a couple of downtempo songs, with a bit of lush strings for flavor. Solid all the way through !
