Groundhogs, Scratching The Surface.
Scarce original 1968 UK pressed Liberty Records mono LP, LBL 83199.
This earliest blue label mono dating from 1968 is much tougher to find than the stereo release.
Vinyl is a solid VG. A few spider trail marks around the spindle areas, but not excessively so, and the labels are clean and undefaced and without wear or whitening. Playing surfaces are still acceptably glossy but display a few light hairline marks and scuffs. No deep or feelable marks.
Playback has been tested in entirety and on the whole is very acceptably clean and bright. The mono cut is loud, punchy and incisive, and does much to mask any imperfections which may be present. Some minor crackle is heard at run-ins and band separators and during the few quieter patches, but this is all at a low level and well behind the music. A few very soft consecutive ticks at the beginning of track 3, side 1, soon dispensed with. Tracks 1 and 2 of side 2 are just a tad more crackly than side 1, but this is still behind the music and not overly obtrusive. Else there are just one or two soft and isolated ticks.
In general still provides a very pleasurable listening experience, with background noise never being any more than a very minor and infrequent distraction.
Single fully laminated sleeve with internal backflaps top end VG plus, close to EX. No sticker marks, pen marks or loss to either front or rear panel, which both still have a good gloss. A few minor pinch line creases leading in from edge areas, just one or two laminate imperfections and half moons. Some air pocketing to laminate at spine area, but without loss or tearing. Edges well preserved and without fraying or seam splits. Spine still in good shape with fully legible titles. Entry side crisp and unfeathered.
