Description
Here for auction is a superb example of the studio album by GROUNDHOGS titled “WHO WILL SAVE THE WORLD? THE MIGHTY GROUNDHOGS”, Catalogue Number UAG 29237. This is a 1972 UK STEREO *1st PRESSING* on the UNITED ARTISTS RECORD LABEL with the earliest A-1U/B-1U Matrix Numbers and the 1st issue Garrod & Lofthouse Fold-out Cartoon Picture Sleeve.
The thick card fold-out sleeve, printed in the UK by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd., is in EX condition (strictly graded) with only very light wear and a little age discoloration. The front and back covers are unmarked. There are no splits or tears to the edges of the fold-out sections. There is barely any wear to the top opening edges. The spine is solid with all text clearly legible. There is a small collection number written in the top right half of the opening gatefold. You can see from the photos that this is a lovely sleeve which should please most collectors.
The top quality United Artists record is very solidly pressed and sits flat and true on the turntable.
The Matrix Numbers and stampers are:
Side A – UAG 29237 A-1U 1 R P
Side B – UAG 29237 B-1U 1 R A
Both sides are visually in EX condition with just a few very light surface marks evident under bright light. These are purely superficial and do not cause any audio problems. The cream coloured UA labels are unmarked with just 1 or 2 faint spindle traces each side. There is virtually no wear around the spindle hole. I am confident that the record has not been played many times.
PLAYGRADE ASSESSMENT:
This is a particularly detailed and vibrant stereo pressing with superb sound quality. The record plays perfectly. All frequencies are crystal clear and there is no discernable deterioration in sound quality. There are no pops or loud clicks and barely any unwanted noise at all. You simply will not find a significantly better playing copy of this classic blues/rock album.
Complete with the original plain white inner sleeve which is in very good condition. There are no splits or tears, just a few creases and a collection number written at the top.
GRADINGS
The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega Planar 3 turntable fitted with an Elys 2 cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. My gradings are strict and in accordance with the following descriptions:
· MINT- Record is superb, almost like new, with just a few sleeve removal type surface marks and no deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve is near perfect in all respects.
· EX Record is a top quality example, with just a few very light surface marks which do not sound, and barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve has slight wear and/or creasing.
· VG+ Record has some visual surface marks, but still plays to a high standard without any major deterioration in sound quality – just a few clicks or light surface sound in places. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects. Still a very presentable sleeve.
PACKAGING & POSTAGE
Records are sent out in new “Wrapro” record mailers. These are rectangular and strong, providing excellent protection to the edges and corners. Records are removed from both inner and outer sleeves in order to prevent seam-splits in transit.
