GUIDED BY VOICES
Beginning in the mid-'80s, Robert Pollard revolutionized indie rock with ever-evolving
lo-fi pop created by a rotating cast. Inspired equally by jangle pop and arty post-punk,
Guided by Voices created a series of trebly, hissy indie rock records filled with
infectiously brief pop songs that fell somewhere between the British Invasion and prog rock.
After recording six self-released albums between 1986 and 1992, the Dayton, Ohio-based
band attracted a handful of fans within the American indie rock underground.
With the 1994 release of Bee Thousand, the group became an unexpected alternative rock sensation

SLEEVE NEAR MINT but (please, see pictures and read above description)
Though once getting past how dated Forever Since Breakfast sounds, it's clear that
although Pollard had not yet found his niche, his songwriting talent was present
and accounted for. That spectacular talent shines through even on songs
drenched with college rock trappings like "Lets Ride" and "She Wants to Know."
Oddly enough, Paul Comstock (who plays lead guitar on the album) has a
similar style to latter-day GBV axe-man Doug Gillard. This apparent coincidence
helps to place this EP in the body of GBV's work; it is closest to the dark
Same Place the Fly Got Smashed and Isolation Drills, an album that
was made more than a decade after these demos were recorded, proving
how the more Pollard tries to change, the more he remains the same...(AllMusic)
