This is a rare original ROCKATHON pressing LP, number 43 of an edition of 500.
The cover is hand-decorated by the band in the tradition of Sun Ra;
front "boxer" cover has crayon accents, back has photo and press-type collage.
The labels are blank; the area near the label bears the “old age no age” mastering stamp of Mike Rep, the Rudy Van Gelder of lo-fi.
My band (Strapping Fieldhands) had the privilege of playing many shows with GBV during the Propeller era (including the legendary Southern tour with the Grifters) and I myself have been “lovingly f*cked with” by Rep!
R. Pollard gave me my first copy of this LP. While on tour he asked to have it back so he could give it to a “fan”. He eventually gave me another one. This process repeated for a while until there were no replacements left and I was hesitant to give up my last copy. “When we get home I’ll give you My Own Personal Copy” said R.P. This is that record.
Record condition is new; I don’t think I ever played it. This record is my treasured souvenir from a real fun time; I’m selling it only because my babies need new shoes – so please bid with enthusiasm for this little piece of Rock History!
