This auction is for a GUIDED BY VOICES -- CUT-OUT WITCH 4 TRACK 7" EP PICTURE DISC RELEASED IN 1996 ON THE MATADOR RECORD LABEL ! This is an EXCELLENT / almost NEAR MINT PRESSING, with the catalogue number being OLE 218-7.
THIS IS A GREAT LOOKING RARE PICTURE DISC !!!
I was recently digging through my endless closet, and came across this deep-dish 7" box that contained eleven Guided By Voices 7"ers as well as some Tobin Sprout / Mitch Mitchell pieces.
Here's a little back story. I had a college radio show at my local alma mater from 1978 to 1991. I was still living locally, and they allowed me to stay on after graduation.
Now normally, I would say that this platter was played on my radio show, but that was not the case here (because that ended in '91). Also, I had a roommate that had a damn good stereo, but we parted ways in 1988, so it didn't get played at home either.
Since this disc was released around 1996, I think I can honestly say that it is previously unplayed! In fact, it was still packed in the original box from the store I ordered it from (Good as Any...Better 'n Some in Franklin, Pennsylvania). The first time it was played was when the disc was listened to for this ebay ad.
I have a turntable now (such that it is...it "wows" like crazy, but it does the job for what I need it for), but definitely not back then.
This 7" is in EXCELLENT condition (at least). As it was only played once, whatever you hear or see is the way it was upon purchase back thirty years ago! So if you hear a few light tics (there are no skips) or some low noise at the end of a song, just know that that is the way it was pressed long ago (on not the greatest quality vinyl either).
Disc information was cross referenced with the Guided By Voices Data Base (GBVDB).
Here's the details;
This VINYL was a U.K. only release picture disc. The picture is based on the cover of the "Under The Bushes Under The Stars" album cover released the same year.
No skips were heard when this was play-tested, and in fact, for a picture disc, it sounded pretty good.
The two songs on the B-side were recorded live on WGNS in Washington D.C.
This disc comes in a clear plastic sleeve.
The EP contains four songs;
SIDE A: Cut-Out Witch Rhine Jive Click
SIDE B: Unleashed! The Large-Hearted Boy Some Drilling Implied
That's it. Again, this was never played until now, so what you hear is what you would have heard back in the '90s. This will be shipped in a box. I don't do envelopes.
