The record is in Mint condition and sounds as wonderful as ever, while the cover is in Excellent condition (only the inevitable slight discolouration betrays the passing of 40 years). See pics. A superb copy of this amazing album from the Scottish duo!

This is the extremely rare real thing: a genuine Mint/Ex condition UK first pressing. The record is in Mint condition while the cover and inner sleeve fully merit an Excellent grading. All items are free from any major defects like scratches, tears, creases, stickers, writing, stains or the like. See pics. All items are the genuine originals bought together by me in 1973 not reprints or replacements. The LP is the original UK 1973 stereo LP, which was only played once or twice on top-end audiophile equipment and lovingly cared for.

Willie and the Lapdog, Gallagher and Lyle's second album, is the fruit of a more folk-influenced duo, and therefore quieter and possibly more at peace with the world around it. Produced with great care by ex-Beatles engineer Glyn Johns, and with appearances by Pete Townshend on Bass Harmonica, and one of McGuinness Flint's namesakes, Hughie Flint, on drums, Willie has a homey feel, as if it is being played to a small audience gathered around a campfire on a warm summer's night. The instrumentation is appropriately sparse, and the songs, which come together to tell a heartfelt story, are imaginatively written and performed. The duo's singing is tremendous throughout.

Gallagher and Lyle was a Scottish musical duo, comprising singer-songwriters Bernard Joseph "Benny" Gallagher (born 10 June 1945, Largs, Ayrshire) and Graham Hamilton Lyle (born 11 March 1944, Bellshill, Lanarkshire).
Their first recognition came in 1968, when they were signed by The Beatles to write for Apple Records’ artists. By 1970, they formed the band McGuinness Flint and wrote the UK chart hit "When I’m Dead and Gone". They formed the duo Gallagher and Lyle in 1972 and their fifth album Breakaway charted and included the hit songs "Heart on My Sleeve" and "I Wanna Stay with You." Don Williams took their song "Stay Young" to No.1 on the US Country charts. The duo split in 1979. Gallagher and Lyle have worked, jointly and individually, on records with among others – Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend, Ronnie Lane, Ronnie Wood, Joan Armatrading, Ralph McTell, Sandy Denny, Fairport Convention and Jim Diamond. Artists who have released Gallagher and Lyle songs include: Bryan Ferry, Elkie Brooks, Fairport Convention, Joe Brown, and more.
