Hello Friends, This is Holy Grail week where I will be listing a few of my holy grail LPs all in NM condition or sealed. I will not use a Buy It Now price, but all listings will have Reserve prices. I would suggest that if you buy one of these ultra rare LPs that you consider Priority shipping, insurance. Thank you.
Gandalf is an extremely rare and highly sought psych LP in any condition. This copy is a promo and in EX+/NM condition. The band was signed by Capitol, according to Wikipedia, in 1967. The producers wanted a name change from the original and eventually settled on Gandalf. The LP was actually recorded the same year but because of the problems with band names and other issues with Capitol the LP was not actually released until 1969. In the meantime with zero promotion and problems with the record company the band broke up. When the LP was eventually released it was sent out with the wrong record in the jacket and all had to be recalled. Capitol did eventually get it right but put no promotion behind the LP or the band and with the band itself split there was no one promoting the LP at all. Not many copies were made, I don't know the number, and it fell into obscurity. It was only some years later it became popular and a psych anthem. But now this wonderful psych LP is considered one of the Holy Grails.
Record - As I stated earlier the LP does have just a few minor paper scuffs and hairlines but they are all superficial. Side 1 plays as new and makes zero noise of any kind, not even between songs or in the deadwax at the end. Dare I say Side 1 is Dead Mint. Side 2 plays with very little noise but does have some light static and a few pops during the last few songs on Side 2, but still rates an EX condition. Therefore I am rating the LP as EX+. But it would be really difficult to find a cleaner copy unless it were still sealed.
Cover - Back in the late 60s to show a promo record, Capitol perforated the top right corner with the word FREE, which this has and can be seen in the photos. The back is as clean as it came from the factory. All 4 corners are perfect, there are no seam splits, the spine is perfect, no writing, stickers or other cutout marks of any kind. The cover does not even show any wear on the top or bottom edges.
Labels - The labels are as clean as they were new and show no wear at all. With the original Capitol rainbow there are not even any spindle marks. This LP must have only been played several times.
I played the entire LP and listening very closely the LP is described exactly as it is. My rating for this extremely rare LP is EX+/NM. It may be a very long time before another in this condition shows up.
If you have ever wanted a nice clean copy of this LP, here's your chance. The reserve of course, will be rather high compared to my other listings, but much less than the $1400 this LP in like condition sold for twice this year on Ebay. Back in February and in April I believe. So you will have plenty of room to work with. Thank you.

My grading system is M(only used on sealed LPs), NM, EX, VG+, VG, VG- and Good. LPs rated good will only be sold if they are very rare. I have been collecting and grading LPs for nearly 5 decades. I ship in LP mailers with the LPs outside of the sleeve to avoid seam splits. Sealed LPs will not be opened. I will also ship to Europe and Japan via USPS international First Class mail for $24 for the first LP. I will combine shipping. I will ship within 3 business days of receiving cleared payment.

Okay friends, I have to spill the beans. You guys are within arms reach of the reserve price for this LP. In fact the next bid will probably get it, depending on what the last bid amount is. I just wanted you all to know how reasonable I am. This LP could easily have a double my reserve. Not to mention that all my other reserve prices are just as reasonable.
