Description

Geezer Butler – Ohmwork 1LP Vinyl Test Pressing (BMG BMGCAT474LP) – 1 of 5 Made
⸻
Description:
Extremely rare test pressing of Ohmwork by Geezer Butler, issued by BMG (catalogue number BMGCAT474LP).
Pressed for audio approval purposes only, this LP was never commercially available. Only a handful (typically 5 copies) were produced at the time of manufacture for internal label and artist QC (quality control) checks before final approval of the production run.
Pressed by Takt (Poland), this copy features the standard blue “TEST PRESSING” labels and comes housed in a plain white die-cut sleeve with BMG sticker detailing:
Catalogue Number: BMGCAT474LP
Title: Ohmwork
Artist: Geezer Butler
The label side is hand-annotated with production notes and the pressing date, confirming its authenticity.
What is a test pressing?
A test pressing is an ultra-limited pre-production vinyl created to evaluate the audio quality, EQ balance and pressing integrity before full manufacturing. They are typically heard only by the artist, mastering engineer and label executives. Test pressings are highly collectible as they represent the first ever playable versions of an album and are often accompanied by subtle audio or matrix differences compared to the final retail issue.
