Genesis: In The Beginning / The Serpent  Italian 7" single (Decca F 22909, released 1974)

This is the 1974 Italian-only 7" single release of two tracks from the band's debut album From Genesis To Revelation, issued in a picture sleeve with a rather curious design that includes an image of the guitarist Alvin Lee from Ten Years After and the words 'edizione originale' in white at the top left of the front cover.
The sleeve has a slight crease on the right hand side approximately 7 cm from the bottom and there is also a very small nick in the edge of the sleeve of the same side approximately 4.5 cm up from the bottom.  There is also a 3 cm split in the bottom of the sleeve.  Lastly there are two tram line marks across the front cover under the band's name, which are visible in the first photo.
The single itself has no visible marks or scratches on either playing surface and the labels look nice and clean.  From memory I believe the single has only been played a couple of times in the 28 years or so that it has been in my collection.
The rear cover of the single has a unique hand-written message from original Genesis guitarist Anthony Phillips who - with typical humour - has written under the two song titles In The Beginning and The Serpent the word Slithered.  Under that he has written three more lines in brackets which read: (it wasn't me) (okay) (it was) which are followed by his initials also in brackets.  A close-up of this message can be seen in the fourth photo.  This handwritten message was obtained by me in person.
