Item Description  A book of nearly 300 rare and unpublished images of The Beatles taken by photojournalist Michael Peto during the making of the film ‘Help!’. When Michael died in 1970 he left the University of Dundee an incredible collection of 130,000 prints and negatives. In 2004, while archiving the collection, the University found photographs of the most influential band in history, none of which had been published before. Michael’s photos capture The Beatles on the set of ‘Help!’ at Twickenham Studios, enjoying dinner at their hotel, relaxing with their co-stars, in the recording studio and facing the press on the day their MBEs were announced to the world. Renowned music journalist Paolo Hewitt contributes an essay reflecting on the pivotal importance of 1965 in Beatles history, while Professor John Tomlinson from the University of Dundee provides deeper insight into the historical context of the group’s success. The foreword is written by acclaimed photographer Colin Jones. ‘Now These Days Are Gone’ contains 256 pages, each printed and hand-bound in Milan on 200gsm matt-art paper. The photographs are produced in duotone with image varnishing and the text is printed in three separate inks. The book and slipcase are both bound in full leather and housed in a black canvas bag. This is copy No. 1978 of 2150 collector’s copies of this limited edition book, each signed by the Principle and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dundee, Sir Alan Langlands. The condition of the book is near mint, the slipcase is excellent. The condition of the canvas bag is excellent. This book comes in its original cardboard mailing box.

Grading System Explained Mint = As new. Near mint = Almost like new with one or two very minor flaws. Excellent = Minor wear yet looks attractive and is perfectly usable . Very Good = Some wear and tear but overall presentable and usable. Good = Apparent wear and tear but with obvious deterioration of the condition. Poor = Extremely worn. A plus or minus after the grading indicates that the condition is marginally higher or lower than the stated grade
