Description
A true pioneer of very early recording, Ireland-born George J. Gaskin
(1863-1920) sings "For Old Time sake" on announced 78rpm etched
7" Zonophone 9814.
He is accompanied by a piano.
Gaskin probably began his recording career in 1891 (cylinders). This
single-sided disc was recorded about a decade later (early 1901).
The record itself is in E- to V+ condition. There is a faint pressure
crack across the record, but it makes no noise. There are a couple of
isolated small digs which tick. Like most early Zonophones, it plays
extremely loud and clear.
