Description

ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This wonderful LP – a lovely, as new collector’s copy – from Eurodisc / Ariola (200 084-366, German pressing, gold label – ED1, SQ stereo) features the remarkable cellist David Geringas in a mixed program that includes several rarities seldom heard either in the concert hall or on record, made with the splendid pianist Tatjana Schatz in the warm acoustics of the Siemensvilla, Berlin in March 1978, the two players ideally balanced and ideally matched.

Included are the following works:

Johann Sebastian Bach (arr. Alexander Siloti): Adagio, from the Organ Toccata in C Major

Francois Couperin (arr. Gaspar Cassado): Pastorale

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (arr. Fritz Kreisler): Rondo, from the "Haffner-Serenade" K. 250

Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy: Song without words Op. 109 “Für Fräulein Lisa Christiani componiert” (publ. posth.)

David Popper:
Concert Etude in F-sharp Minor
Spinning-Wheel Op. 55

Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (arr. Wilhelm Fitzenhagen): Nocturne Op. 19 No. 4

Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (arr. Julius Klengel): Sweet Reverie Op. 39 No. 21

Sergei Prokofiev (arr. David Geringas, Stanislav Knuschevitzky*, Mstillav Rostropovich**, and the composer***):

Masks from "Romeo and Juliet"
Dance of the Girls from Antilles from "Romeo and Juliet"
Waltz from "Tale of the stone Flower"*
March from  "The Love for Three Oranges"**
Adagio from "Cinderella" Op. 97b***

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. Really, there are no flaws to speak of – some minuscule bumping at corners, perhaps, but that is all. Otherwise, the jacket appears virtually as new – a truly lovely collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is MINT and plays flawlessly – a superb collector's copy.
