This handsome LP – a still-sealed copy – from Westminster (WST-17123, US pressing, label iteration unknown, stereo) features the under-rated violinist Robert Gerle in a triptych of truly wonderful concerto performances featuring works by Antonio Vivaldi and Henri Vieuxtemps.

The exact contents are as follows:

Henri Vieuxtemps: Violin Concerto No. 2 in F-sharp minor Op. 19

Antonio Vivaldi: Concerto for Violin and Strings (No. 60 "for Scodatura Violin")

Antonio Vivaldi: Posthorn Concerto (No. 163 "O sia il corneto da Posta")

Throughout Gerle is accompanied by the Vienna Radio Orchestra and conductor Robert Zeller, the performances warmly recorded in the Mozart Hall, Vienna, in June 1966.

This album was produced by James Grayson and engineered by H. Zeithammer and P. Curiel. The striking cover design was executed by Byron Goto and Henry Epstein. There are insightful liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Robert Gerle himself, provided in English only.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. Really there are no flaws to speak of and the album appears almost as new – overall, an outstanding collector's copy.

The condition of the LP is MINT. This is a still-sealed, unplayed copy – the ideal collector's copy.
