'The 4 Wedding Boys' originally consisted of 3 court singers. That was Kurt Richter, Fritz Löwenstein and Jonny Schulz. While standing in the Kommandantenstrasse, we met a Paul Meier, who joined us and took us from the street to the boards that mean the world. So Paul Meier made our manager, brought us to the radio, cabaret, then came the records, etc., tours through Silesia, Bavaria, ”said Kurt Richter more than fifty years later about the beginnings of the ensemble. From 1933, the term no longer seemed appropriate As Richter explained in a letter: "In the first radio broadcast we had to rename our name Wedding-Boys (English with Hitler) to 'The Four Judges'". The choice of the new group name suggests a certain ambition of Richter, who explicitly focused on himself and his talent. In view of the prospects of success, he also parted ways with his previous colleagues, as he went on to say: "Since some of my men couldn't keep up with the music musically, I had to replace three men. That was Paul Meier, Fritz Löwenstein and Jonny Schulz. For this, a Mr. Heinz Düwert came for Meier Bariton, for J. Schulz Ali Tibor Tenor, for Löwenstein Mr. Erwin Teichmann Bass. Then those were 'The 4 Judges'. ”The wording is not without a certain comedy, because a replacement can hardly be said if an ensemble is put together except for the front man and namesake. This impression may be deceptive, however, because at least Alexander Tibor probably did not join the group until 1936, which means that it was not radical and current, but was transformed over a longer period of time. Hans Hahn is also mentioned as an interim group member in documents received. In addition to Kurt Richter, the vocal partners of the "Richter Duet" may have been involved - the ensemble members mentioned, probably also Conny Varnhorn.

Between 1932 and 1939, the judges gained enormous popularity, above all through their extensive record oeuvre for various publishers. "Namely with the companies Tempo Spezial, Deutsche Grammophon, Lindström, Telefunken, Artiphon, in other words with all companies that produced records". Richter's note may be a little exaggerated, but his ensemble may have recorded - in fact impressive - far more than 250 recordings, many titles double and triple. "Darling with blond hair", "Tyrol, Tyrol, you are my home country", "Black brown is the hazelnut", "The edelweiss", "Where the duro waves flow", "You know, mother, what I dreamed of ' ? "," Farewell, you beautiful may dream "," If everything is dark, everything is cloudy "- a list of selected pieces is sufficient to provide an insight into the repertoire of the four judges. Folk art was at the heart of it, and the singers rarely recorded more current day hits. Her style and choice of programs were tailored to a target group that today would be called a lower class. The recordings obtained do not show great musical ambition with sophisticated singing, sophisticated harmonies, they simply offered songs for the common man - and as such were probably bought eagerly, especially since they appeared in the record stores under various pseudonyms: as "4 Richter's vocal guitarists ", As" Richter "or" Vier Richter ", as" Imperial-Singing-Guitarist "or" Volkssänger-Quartet ", as" Grammophon Singing-Guitarist "or" Vier Troubadours ", as" Tempo-Singing-Quartet "or completely anonymously without group name.

A Quick NOTE ON GRADING AND SHIPPING:

As you can see from my feedback, I try hard to earn your POSITIVE FEEDBACK and FIVE STAR RATINGS.

If for any reason your transaction was NOT SATISFACTORY, pls contact me and I will work something out with you. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE A REASON TO GIVE ME A NEGATIVE RATING or a LOW STAR RATING.

Quick note on grading:

The Grade (Excellent to Poor, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately

When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"SUPERQUIET" is basically noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an exceptionally quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example without undue noise for a give pressing.

These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.
